Some people will say Messi is better than Ronaldo or vice-versa but I beg to differ, I think both Cristiano and Messi hold the top spot after showing longevity with consistency for more than a decade. Some people may also name them as the best athletes of all time and I think that they are in the equation with Michael Jordan(Basketball Legend) , Sachin Tendulkar(Cricket Legend) and Usain Bolt etc.

2) The Late and Great Diego Maradona


The World Cup Winner and Argentinian footballer Maradona was one of the best to ever be on a football pitch. From controversial goals like "The Hand of God" to one of the best goals the world has ever seen titled "the Goal of the Century". It makes me sad that he didn't get to see Messi win the world cup and lifting the world cup for the last time .

3) Pele


The Brazilian legend was one of the most influential players to ever be on a football field.The three time world cup winner has goals and assists that you probably wouldn't have ever seen. He was truly gifted in every aspect of the game making him in the top 3 best football players of all time. FIFA gave him the Best Football Player of the Century alongside Diego Maradona.

4) Johann Cruyff

The three time Ballon D'or winner and Dutch legend Johann Cruyff  holds the fourth spot in this list. He was a great defender, had incredible vision, excellent technique and what not. He was regarded one of the best not only for his career in football but also in his managerial career.

5) Zinedine Zidane
Winner of the Ballon d'Or in 1998, Zidane had a hugely successful career at both Juventus and Real Madrid. However, Zidane first truly came into the public conscience as a genuinely world-class player with his performance against Brazil in the 1998 World Cup final. He definitely belongs in this list along with all these great players.

So, These were the best players in football history according to me. There were many people who were close to making this list like Ronaldo Nazario, Garincha, Alfredo Di Stefano etc.
